Hi there!
I'm Carolyn
The birth of my daughter, Natalie, was the birth of my artistic inspiration. Together we collaborated an a fine art photo series I called Childhood Dreams & Memories in which I recreated recurring visions with her as a stand-in for me as a child. She is the most patient + perfect model and muse. We had a solo show of this series at the Duncan Miller Gallery (Los Angeles) in 2013. The series has been exhibited all over the world, at art festivals and the Oceanside Art Museum, has been published in numerous publications, and is held in several notable collections.
My second series, Constructed Fairytales, is comprised of visual stories in my head that are informed by myths, folktales, fairytales, and legends, with my daughter and a few other children as my collaborators.. This series has also been published and licensed. with the highlight being that one made the cover of SHOTS, one of my favorite art magazines. Working in the Hollywood film industry for decades, I have been fortunate to have had access to some very special props, costumes, and locations to make the tales come to life.
I am primarily self-taught as an artist, though I definitely rely heavily on divine inspiration. I have recently taken up painting with oils and watercolors, as well as creating mixed media pieces.
I make my own photo prints (up to a certain size) on a professional Epson printer with archival inks and paper. For larger prints, I rely on a professional lab. that I trust. Most of my art is available if you are interested in collecting a piece, so please don't hesitate to reach out.
